Autonomous Navigation for Flying Robots (EdX course)

2017-10-13NancyAll, Events

During September SPECTORS had a seminar of 5 days based on the video-lectures offered by the Technical University of Munich (TUM), EdX course, on basic concepts for autonomous navigation of quadrotors: the idea behind was that we are a group of people focusing on very different topics between each other and we needed to gain all some more knowledge on drone controls, independently from the specific field of work we are on and scientific background.

The topics covered have been the following:

  • Linear algebra
  • 2D geometry
  • 3D geometry
  • sensors
  • actuators and control (PID, feedback control)
  • Probabilistic State Estimation
  • Kalman Filter
  • Visual Odometry
  • 3D reconstruction
  • SLAM

We would like to reccomend to everybody with interest in drones to have a look at the course available at this link.
